I believe that the body has the innate ability to heal itself. My goal is to support and enhance that healing process through acupuncture and other natural therapies to restore well-being of mind, body and spirit.
Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana.,I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. I always say acupuncture chose me. I attended Bastyr University in Seattle. I was lucky to settle down in Portland to raise my family. I love to hike with my dog, backpack with my kids, travel around the world with my partner, cook, garden, and be outside every chance I have.
My private studio is in the heart of Portland, across the street from Powell's Book in a quiet historic triangle building. With natural lighting, plants, and antiques, my space encourages you to focus on yourself and take time to release stress, breath, or even nap, and leave feeling more at ease.
Since my kids were in pre-school I have parented using Positive Discipline developed by Jane Nelson. It emphasizes the importance of worthiness, kindness, significance, and responsibility. I became a positive discipline parent educator, leading small workshops and private sessions. My relationship with my children who are now nearly grown is filled with love, trust and positive regard.
After years of loving my own slow yoga path I completed a yoga teacher training in 2010. I have now been teaching private sessions and yoga classes as well as incorporating gentle stretching techniques for patients for over 15 years.
Acupuncture helps with recovery from addiction. Whether it is alcohol, nicotine, marijuana or drugs, acupuncture reduces cravings, and eases withdrawals. I combine acupuncture protocols with the principles of 12 Step Recovery programs.
